“Keep on Swimming”- Dory
Hello! We hope you are doing well. Here is a quick family and ministry update from my favorite corner table at Evelyn Bay Coffee Shop in our hometown.
On Sunday we presented our ministry at Will County Baptist Church in Joliet, IL. We met several sweet people and enjoyed going to lunch with Pastor and Mrs. Steenhoven, the parents of Anna’s former college roommate. Lesson learned – be nice to everyone. You never know how God will allow you to cross paths with people in the future. 😉
Tomorrow we are headed six hours east to Pennsylvania for a meeting at Bristoria Baptist Church in Graysville,PA. Sunday we are visiting Lake Milton Baptist Temple in Diamond, Ohio.
We jokingly call autumn “mission conference season” since we have host of conferences scheduled over the next few months. My sister-in-law recently wrote, “Anna, you live on the road like a family of hippies but have to roll out of the van like a family of H&M models.” This made me smile. Although we fall short for the family of models, some days we do feel like a crazy hippie family. During particularly busy times Kevin and I say to each other, “Keep on swimming” – a quote from Nemo. 😉 It cracks a smile every time. Please pray we will finish deputation strong!
Noah’s Candyland Birthday Party
We had a “sweet” time as we celebrated Noah’s fourth birthday with family. He chose the theme and thanks to Pinterest we made it happen. Thank you to many of you who called and sent cards.
We did it. We snuck out – just the two of us. Did you wonder why you didn’t get an update last week? Well…we were busy. We unplugged for an entire 24 hours together. We hadn’t been away just the two of us since before Noah was born. Each set of grandparents watched one of our boys for us (doesn’t it look like they had fun too?). We enjoyed reflecting on the past and planning for our future in the UK. We want our marriage and family to remain healthy and strong by God’s grace as we embark on our new ministry.
Garage Sale/Labor Day
We enjoyed our Labor Day weekend as we hosted our FINAL garage sale (woo hoo). Now if we can just keep Anna away from visiting any more garage sales we will be all set. 😉 Who knew that a garage sale could be such a great outreach in the community! We were able to invite countless people to church and engage in several spiritual conversations, not to mention raise a bit of money for our local pregnancy center and our upcoming moving expenses.
