Child Training Bible

A few months ago as I was skimming through my FB feed I saw a friend’s post asking for feedback about the Child Training Bible. I had never heard of it, but was curious. I did a quick Google search and instantly knew I wanted to make one!

I gathered the supplies:

  1. Child Training Bible Chart Set – you can purchase them HERE.
  2. A 6″x9″ hardcover Bible – UK link HERE, USA link HERE.
  3. A highlighter set with multiple shades – UK link HERE, USA link HERE.
  4. A set of coordinating color tabs – UK link HERE, USA link HERE.

Next I texted a few friends to see if they wanted to make one as well. We made it a fun moms-day-out project. For the next two weeks Alicia, Katie, and I met for coffee and worked on our Bibles in-between chasing our children. 😉 As we were highlighting verses the Spirit used His Word to convict us. Our conversation quickly turned to God’s Word as we talked about the verses we were highlighting. We knew this Bible was for us just as much as it was for our children!

The Child Training Bible is a tool to use with your children to keep God’s Word in the center of your home. Many times when correction is needed I can’t think of an appropriate verse in the heat of the moment, the Child Training Bible makes it easy to turn to a Bible verse that will help my child because everything is color coded – a dream for someone like me who loves to color code, label, and organize!

Now if you do decide to make this Bible, please be forewarned it can be a nightmare for someone who is a perfectionist (like myself!). All those little tabs…..ugh – I really struggled to get them to line up evenly. As you can see they aren’t perfect, and I finally just had to come to grips with “close enough”.

I pray this little tool will be a help to you. Perhaps you can make one for your child, niece, nephew, grandchild, or even for yourself! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having Bible verses organized into topics and within reach throughout the day. If my five year old is struggling with fear I can hand him this Bible and he’s able to turn to all the light blue tabs under “fear” and read the highlighted verses himself. I am not content with where I am right now as a mother and wife and I know there is no better tool than the Word of God to sharpen me. A verse that comes to mind is Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

My prayer is that this tool will help strengthen your faith. Maybe you’ve never used the Bible to train your child – this would be a great place to start. May we all do our best to teach our children the Word of God. The Bible is not a book we simply carry to church on Sunday, it’s our handbook for life – true, eternal life.

I have never heard of this and want to thank you for sharing!! What a great idea, and one I want to begin! I am sure this will bless this mama, and our family as a whole as we continue to raise our blessings for HIM. Thanks Anna!

    • You are so welcome! I heard about it through another mom. Isn’t it great we can network together to encourage each other as we teach our children about God? I’m so glad it helped you.

I had never heard of this. It’s a great idea! I think a similar bible to encourage women would be wonderful too. Thanks for sharing this Anna.
